Cliff led Apache onto the trail. Apache was a bit scatterbrained, and Cliff was trying to teach him to stand still while someone was mounting. He stuck a foot in the stirrup and then took it out again as Apache sidestepped. He slowly led Apache in a circle. Cliff tried three more times to mount, but only on his fourth try was he successful. He walked along the trail and only let Apache trot home. He was conditioning him for next week's barrel racing show. Cliff led Apache back home and untacked him. He let him out to pasture, then went back into his Cabin.
