Devon gently tapped her heels into Aspen's sides, speeding her up a little. After leaving the stable they now traveled at a steady lope towards the stream she had heard gurgling a little ways back. The looping fronds of the willow tree tickled her back and sent a dapple of sunlight onto the ground ahead of her as Aspen carried her beneath them. Finally Devon noticed a lightly worn path where the sound of the stream grew more noticable and sharply angled Aspen towards it. The mare snorted but complied, slowing to a smooth trot. Aspen glanced ahead, and as she pushed through a final curtain of willow branches she saw what she'd been looking for. Ahead, in a sunny clearing lay a gurgling brook, crystal clear as it bubbled over smooth pebbles. Devon stopped Aspen completely and swung down from her, leading her slowly to the stream's side. A lowhanging branch nearby provided room for her to tie Aspen, but gave the horse room enough to sip the water and chomp at some vibrantly green clover.
Devon stroked Aspen's back as the mare grazed and then remembered she'd packed a lunch in the horse's saddle bag before she left. Fishing through it she pulled out a cheese and ham sandwich, carrot sticks, and a thermos of hot coffee. With a contented sigh she sat down on a wind worn boulder, nibbling on the cruncy carrots.

Landon trotted Zorro over to the brook. Zorro stopped and bent down to look at the water. Landon push him forward and he splashed lightly through the brook. Zorro stopped on the otherside and shook the water off his shimmering coat. Landon walked Zorro to the side of the willow. It was completly conceling Devon. Zorro noticed Aspen and whinnied to her. Landon dismounted and let Zorro walk over to the mare.
